Crimson Caller Profiles

Our Crimson Callers augment the important work that our many alumni and parent volunteers carry out on behalf of Harvard.  These undergraduates reach out to alumni, parents, and friends to raise funds and thank donors for their support.  The program employs a diverse group of students, and we hope that you enjoy hearing directly from a few of our seasoned callers:

Why I’m Involved:
I am involved with Crimson Callers because I believe that raising money for financial aid is the best way an undergrad can thank the college and alumni for helping to finance his/her education. I think Crimson Callers is both a noble profession and a great-paying one.

Memorable Crimson Caller Moment:  My most memorable Crimson Caller experience is when we had Olympics my freshman year. Everyone was really into it and the office was packed every night. Over a few week period we were able to raise a ton of money and the team competition was still very close. The red team ended up pulling ahead in the end by bringing in their own red phones, wearing red face paint and carrying red pens. That kind of team spirit and commitment to a goal is what makes Crimson Callers a very special program.

Why I’m Involved: I feel extremely lucky to have benefited from the Harvard Financial Aid Initiative. The amount it costs me to attend here is basically zero, far more help than I got from any other school when I applied. I don’t want to feel like I’m getting a ‘free ride,’ however, when all I’ve done to deserve that is have parents with low income. Working at the Fund to raise financial aid money is a way that I can help pay the school back for its generosity to me.

Memorable Crimson Caller Moment: A memorable moment for me was one night when I got 31 pledges for the 31 calls I made - a perfect night. At first I was proud of myself for being a good caller, but I soon realized that it also said a lot about the character of the alumni here and their support for the school.
